MICHAEL DOUGLAS

Right before Michael Douglas married Catherine Zeta Jones I got a call from my boss to go to their apartment up in the W70's off CPW and cut up an antique cabinet so they could hide their new TV. Flat screens in those day weren't exactly flat. So I packed my tools and set off for a job I hated. Rich people in those days all watched TV, but they all hid the fact. When their other rich friends came over they closed the cabinet. It was a nice little way for a high end contractor to pimp out his mechanics and charge big bucks for on sight, clean work. We took advantage of their weakness.
The housekeeper let me in. I'd have to wait until the baby woke up before I could start making noise. She made me coffee and gave me the morning paper. Oscars peered over my shoulder as I read the headline. It was the day after Bush tied with Gore for the election. We know how that turned out. At the time I was writing a hunting column for the RIVER REPORTER newspaper. There on the table was the assistant's complete itinerary and guest list for the upcoming secret wedding. I leafed through it, eyeballed the Oscars. A shadow glided down the hallway. It was CZJ with the baby. The housekeeper took my coffee cup and gave me the green light to saw a hole in the back of the cabinet and hide the TV set. Tonight Michael Douglas announced that he beat cancer. Congrats from that guy who destroyed your antique.
